The Howgills are stunning in every weather, as clo The Howgills are stunning in every weather, as clouds scud over the russet moorlands and bring in startlingly blue skies, threatening bruise-like clouds or impenetrable fog.

The town of Sedbergh nestles right into the feet of Winder, a hill which seems to grow from the back of the town itself. But walks around here aren’t always for the faint-hearted. Let’s say, a pub lunch (if not a lie down!) are always on the cards once we’re done!

That’s only one of the reasons why we love Sedbergh's fine dining pub with rooms, The Black Bull. It’s just as perfect for a pizza and glass of something chilled on a sunny weekend evening as it is for cosying up in the bar in front of the fire with a hearty sandwich after a soggy Winder walk. Or - our fave - for making a special occasion of it, and going all out, enjoying the amazing and inspiring fine dining menu and then staggering off to the gorgeous rooms upstairs! Check out Cumbria.com's Black Bull review in our linktree.

Somehow nothing shouts ‘treat’ like an afternoon tea. Perhaps it’s the luxurious feeling that you’re whiling away the afternoon (or perhaps it’s because you usually don’t need an extra meal between lunch and dinner…?) but cream teas always feel decadent. So… ‘scon’ or ‘scooone’ ??
