The Terrace is a beautiful spot within the grounds of Brantwood, where you can enjoy lunch, a tasty snack or a hot drink. The cafe is open all year round, with the option to sit inside or out. The restaurant has the most amazing views over Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man; you won’t want to leave.

The building dates back to 1872, built as the coach house and stable for John Ruskin’s coachman. When Brantwood opened to the public in 1934, the coach house was converted into a tearoom for visitors.

The Terrace serves delicious food, all made on-site, including gourmet toasties, pork belly and bean poke bowls. They also serve delicious cakes, scones and pastries. The menu changes regularly in line with the seasons and local produce availability.

Parking in the Brantwood car park is free and available for patrons of the cafe, but we recommend exploring the house and gardens, too, if you have time.

The Terrace is open every day;
Summer hours 10 am– 5 pm during
Winter hours 10:30 am – 4 pm
Closed on Christmas & Boxing Day.
