The Sawmill Cafe Wasdale

The place to be

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience during your trip to the beautiful Western Lake District, The Sawmill Cafe Wasdale is a must-visit destination. This charming family-run cafe in the heart of the area offers an authentic taste of the region.

The Sawmill’s carefully restored building, which has stood for over 200 years, retains its original industrial charm. Once a functioning sawmill during the Victorian era, the building has been transformed. Now a delightful cafe and farm shop, complete with glass panels on the shop floor that allow visitors to see the water running beneath the shop.

After a day of exploring the stunning surroundings, The Sawmill offers a delicious selection of homemade breakfasts, lunches, and cakes. Everything on the menu is fresh using locally sourced ingredients. The farm shop is a treasure trove of local products, including meats, cheeses from their deli, and unique gifts like handmade soaps and candles.

Something for everyone

Whether you’re in the mood for a refreshing coffee, a tasty lunch, or a sweet treat, The Sawmill has something for everyone. With a play area for children, a kid’s menu, and a lovely outdoor seating area by the River Irt, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.

We highly recommend a visit to The Sawmill Cafe & Farmshop. With its friendly atmosphere, delicious food, and charming location, it’s sure to be a highlight of your trip. Don’t miss out!

One thing to note, there is a gap between the breakfast and lunch menus. Between 11.30 and 12, all you can get is the food in display cabinets. Unfortunately, there’s no escaping the busy lunchtime rush.
