Usually held in May, the Keswick Mountain Festival attracts thousands of outdoor enthusiasts every year. Visitors can sign up to take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, fell-walking and archery. Increasingly popular are the sporting events such as the triathlons, open-water swims, trail runs, cycle sportives and hiking challenges. The three-day event also offers live music, high-profile speakers, skills workshops and a wide range of other attractions from its ‘Festival Village’ base in Crow Park on the shores of Derwentwater. And, in true summer festival style, there’s a dedicated campsite – at Springs Farm, just a 10-minute walk from Crow Park.
