Kendal Calling is a summer music festival held every year at Lowther Deer Park, a few miles north of Kendal. Having started life as a small event attracting a capacity crowd of 900 in 2006, it quickly outgrew its town-centre venue and moved to the country estate where, in 2019, musicians on its 11 stages entertained more than 30,000 music fans. Performers over the years have included Tom Jones, Blondie, Manic Street Preachers, Nile Rogers, Libertines, Clean Bandit, Stereophonics, Mumford & Sons and former Beach Boy Brian Wilson. The four-day festival also features art and cultural events, a comedy stage and a chill-out area with massage and yoga sessions.
