Crummock Water

Crummock Water is located between Buttermere and Loweswater, and is the largest of the three. Steep slopes rear up on two sides: Mellbreak to the west and craggy Grasmoor to the east. Walkers can complete a nine-mile circuit of the lake with a detour to the low top of Rannerdale Knotts for a beautiful bird’s-eye perspective. The side valley of Rannerdale is famous for its spring-time display of bluebells.

There are several gently sloping entry points for wild swimmers as well as a dive site near Hause Point, although the depth of the lake makes it particularly cold.
